Vona Belle Ross of Lakeview, Arkansas, passed away on April 24, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on June 22, 1941, in Wichita County, Kansas, she was the beloved daughter of Hallie and Clara Belle Wilson. Vona married Raymond Ross in Wichita, Kansas, and managed a bakery for many years. She was a member of the Bull Shoals Methodist Church. Vona was a caring, loving, and kind soul with a great sense of humor. She seemed to always have a quick smile and words of encouragement. She was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was blessed with many talents—a great cook and baker (breads and cinnamon rolls her specialty), an accomplished seamstress who made many of her family’s clothes, a talented musician who loved to sing, play the guitar, and loved country music, an avid gardener who had a 22 lb cantaloupe featured on the local news, and had a genuine love of nature, especially for birds (her favorites were hummingbirds, peacocks, and red cardinals). She enjoyed collecting figurines and shopping for antiques at the local sales and flea markets. Her life was a testament to staying active, eating right, and being able to accomplish anything with the right attitude.

Vona is lovingly survived by her husband, Raymond Vernon Ross of Lakeview, Arkansas; her son, Johnnie Leon Williams; her daughter, Vickie Sue Williams; four grandchildren, Kari, Jennifer, Andy, and Landon; and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also remembered by two brothers, Melvin Wilson and Donald Wilson, and three sisters, Mildred Burch, Lois Keller, and Marilyn Maley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Everett Wilson and Marvin Wilson, and two sisters, Marlene Riley and Alice Allen.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Bull Shoals Methodist Church, with Pastor Greg Coolidge officiating. A Graveside Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Leon Cemetery in Leon, Kansas.
