Thomas “Tom” Gutierrez of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away April 3, 2026, in Mountain Home at the age of 78. He was born March 14, 1948, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Eusebio and Tomasa Barajaz Gutierrez. He was a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Saksa, on July 6, 1992, in Hammond, Indiana. In 1996, Tom and Barbara made their home in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Church.
Tom’s greatest joy was his family. He was a man of quiet strength, deep loyalty, and unwavering devotion. He gave freely of himself, always putting others before his own needs, and was someone his family could count on without hesitation. His presence brought comfort, stability, and a sense of home to those who knew and loved him.
Tom is survived by his siblings, Raymond Gutierrez, Lupe Gutierrez, Irene (Pedro) Escobedo, David (Rachel) Gutierrez, Phillip (Diane) Gutierrez, Victor Gutierrez, Danny Gutierrez, Vincent (Debbie) Gutierrez, Blas Gutierrez, Olivia (Jose) Vega, and Lydia (Pete) Molloy; children, Sophia Norrick, Sondra (David) Pagan, Kelly (Ed) Siwak, and Frank Prusinski; stepson, Juan Miguel (Laura) Cano, who proudly followed in his footsteps as a Marine; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Barbara Jean Gutierrez; his daughter, Sonia Lee Gutierrez; and siblings, Jesse Gutierrez, and Robert (Sue) Gutierrez, Estella (Ramiro) Torres, Eusebio Jr. (Caroline) Gutierrez, Jovita (Manuel) Martinez Cavazos,
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Military Honors at 3:30 pm. Military Honors will be provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and United States Marine Corps Honor Guards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Service Officers Fund @ VFW Post 3246 or the American Red Cross.
