Theodore Gehman

February 8, 1941 — June 18, 2025

Miller, Missouri

Theodore "Ted" Gehman of Henderson, Arkansas passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Harvey and Ingeborg Gehman. Ted first married Lucille (Lund) with whom he raised 5 children. Later married Marie Gehman (Edelhauser) on September 27, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois. A U.S. Army veteran and former truck driver for Jewel Foods, Ted and his late wife Marie resided in the Henderson area for 32 years.

Upon moving to Arkansas, Ted joined the Henderson Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter. His dedication and hard work led to his promotion to Assistant Fire Chief. Ted was known for his passion for helping others and his commitment to community service.

A gracious host, Ted welcomed visitors to his home. Mornings were spent solving the world's problems over percolated coffee, while afternoons often involved lively discussions over cold beverages. Ted's warm hospitality extended to his culinary skills, with a particular talent for breakfast, especially his renowned waffles.

Ted's love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for pontoon rides on the lake, particularly when entertaining his grandchildren. His home was a popular vacation destination, promising fun-filled days and sun-kissed memories.

An avid gardener and animal lover, Ted cultivated a vegetable garden annually, generously sharing its bounty with local wildlife. His compassion for animals was exemplified by his care for his beloved pets, including his cherished cat, Ernie.

Those fortunate enough to know Ted will remember him as a genuine, hardworking, loving, and giving individual whose presence brought joy to all. His legacy of kindness and generosity will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.

Theodore is survived by his children: Ted Jr. (Kim) Gehman, Stephanie Cramer (Ed), Susan (Eric) Luna, Rebecca (Justin) Moran, Jennifer (Randy) Pritchard, Debbie (Emil) Caldario, Kim Duffy, Dawn (Mark) Scheuing, and Gerry (Chris) Arroyo; as well as 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, late wife, sons-in-law Bill and Eric and granddaughter Sarah.
