Samuel Don Odle, aged 61, passed away on October 17, 2026, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Born on March 25, 1965, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of Martin Don and Janice (Barnhill) Odle.

Sam served for a brief period in the United States Navy before dedicating over 40 years to working as a tow boat captain and pilot on the Mississippi River. His passion for the river was surpassed only by his exceptional skill, maintaining an impeccable safety record even while managing up to 37 barges at once.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Janice (George) Hamann of Clarkridge, AR; his brothers, Alan (Barbara) Dyson of Mountain Home, AR, and Joseph (Phyllis) Dyson of Harker Heights, TX; and his sister, Johnnette Mcintosh of Mountain Home, AR. He also leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his father, Martin Odle; his wife, Tassie Jolly Odle; and siblings, Jeffrey and Debra Dyson.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas. Entombment will be in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the care of Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
