Richard “Rick” Earl Willoughby, passed away on July 21, 2026 at his home in Bull Shoals, Arkansas at the age of 73. Rick was born on February 28, 1953 in Butte, Montana the son of John and Betty Jean Little Willoughby. Rick was 17 when he joined the U.S. Navy to serve in the Vietnam War. He later worked as a heavy duty tire technician for many years. Rick met the love of his life, Sharon Motarie, and they were united in marriage on August 17, 2002, in Lakeside, Montana. On a trip to a conference through the Ozark Mountains, the couple made the decision to move to Bull Shoals and enjoy some better weather. They fell in love with the area and greatly cherished the community they found. Rick was a member of the Grace Church of Bull Shoals. He was also a dedicated member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Rick felt a special connection to eagles and had a collection of artwork and figurines. He enjoyed woodworking, trout fishing, and hunting. He was an avid bowler and especially loved riding his motorcycle.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Sharon Willoughby of Bull Shoals, AR; daughters, Tina Willoughby of Butte, MT, Sommer Willoughby of Phoenix, AZ, and Amber Willoughby Smith of Bull Shoals, AR; step-daughter, Kimberlee Couden Taylor of Norfork, AR; step-sons, Mike Smoke of CO, Daniell Smoke of Bull Shoals, AR, and James Smoke of MT; sister, Lynne LeCoure of Butte, MT; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brandi Jo Roe; step-son, Robert Smoke; and brothers, Charles, Jackie, and Randy Willoughby.
A Celebration of Life will be announced in the coming weeks. Burial will be at Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a Veterans Organization of your choice or a tree may be planted in Rick’s memory.
