Michael Louis "Mike" Scrima

Michael "Mike" Louis Scrima of Oakland, Arkansas, passed away March 3, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 84. He was born March 3, 1940, in Tuckahoe, New York, the son of Leonard and Loretta Grasso Scrima. He married his late wife, Betty, on May 22, 1972, in Arlington Heights, IL. Mike began his career working as a programmer at Warner's Women's Apparel. In 1983, Mike and Betty purchased Black Oak Resort in Oakland, AR and made the move from Illinois in 1985. They cherished their time at the Resort and loved hosting their guests. Mike volunteered for the Oakland Fire Department for many years and served as the Fire Chief as well. He also served his community as Justice of the Peace in Marion County. Mike loved bass fishing, which is what brought him to the Twin Lakes area. He enjoyed fishing the local lakes for over 40 years.

Michael is survived by his son, Mike Scrima, Jr. of Illinois; step-son, Nick (Linda) Meyers of Schaumburg, IL; sisters, June Kernaghan of Plano, TX, and Joan Scrima of Palos Hills, IL; brother, Richard Scrima of Prospect, IL; one grandbaby; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years; parents; and siblings, Theresa Hipman, Lorraine LaGongle, Bobby Scrima, Tony Scrima, and Helen Foster. 

Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2024, 1:00 pm, at the Oakland Community Center. A Memorial Service will follow at  2:00 pm, with Pastor Joel Holth officiating.
