Mr. Merlin J. Nickel, 77 died Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. He was born June 19, 1926 at New Holstein, Wisconsin. He married Joyce VanDeLoo, April 22, 1989 at Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Mr. Nickel graduated from Lakeland College in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin and was a mechanical engineer with Hayssen Manufacturing in Sheboygan, Wisconsin for 34 years, designing packaging machines. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Knights and a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Survivors: Merlin J. Nickel is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 1708 Arbor, in Mountain Home; 5 sons, one daughter, one stepson, two stepdaughters, 15 grandchildren and one brother. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Joan, and one brother. Funeral: A Memorial mass will be at a later date at the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Burial: Entombment will be at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum. Memorials: Memorials may be made to St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church Building Fund.
