IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melissa
Combs
April 30, 1942 – November 15, 2025
Melissa Irene Combs of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away November 15, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 83. She was born April 30, 1942, in Martinez, California, the daughter of Claude and Bertha Mosier Simmons. She graduated from the Antioch High School. She married William Combs and was a homemaker, raising the first of their three boys. While her husband was a union iron worker, the family followed the work and moved to Oklahoma, where the second child was born. After returning to Oakley, their third son was born. At one point in time, she took a job at the Potato Shed in Granada, California, but after calling home to check on her boys, a young lady answered the phone, unexpectedly. So, in the best interest of her family, she quit her job and went back home to raise the boys. After the tragic death of her youngest son, Gary, the family moved to Mountain Home in 1991. After her husband passed away in 2010, she made several attempts to move back to Brentwood, but was never able to successfully move. At 83 years old, this brave, strong woman lived alone and with just some help from her sons and a cleaning service to clean the house. She was moved to Care Manor Nursing and Rehab to try and regain her strength after a fall, but ultimately passed away.
She leaves behind a list of relatives who's lives she touched, including, two sons, Mike Combs of Mountain Home, AR, and Willie Combs of Mountain Home, AR; four grandchildren, Justin Combs, Michael Sigmann, Chris Combs, and Misty Combs; nine great-grandchildren, Trinity, Robert, Dillon, Zachary, Tana, Bradly, Gavin, Amelia, Lydia (Lexi), Steel, and Kimber; sister, Andrea; sister-in-law, Amy Spanger; niece, Christine Sporgin; nephew, John Simmons; step-son, Tommy Combs; and a host of friends, including Goldy Gomez and Gayla Gomez Sims. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Combs; and granddaughter, Cathy Sue Combs Willett.
