Marlin Edwin Johnson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, peacefully passed away on April 15, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on November 24, 1933, in Alton, Missouri, Marlin was the son of Everett and Nora Howell Johnson. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he dedicated part of his life to serving his country.

Marlin married Caroline Rose Byrd on November 25, 1951, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Together, they shared many cherished years, including a shared love of traveling in their younger days. He was a devoted farmer and made Mountain Home his home after relocating from Wichita, Kansas, in 1969.

A founding member of the Harmony Freewill Baptist Church, Marlin served as a head deacon, contributing greatly to his faith community. He enjoyed attending tractor pulls and watching purple martins, simple pleasures that enriched his life.

Marlin is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Sondra (Ben) McFarland of Mountain Home; his grandson, Harrison McFarland of Mountain Home; and sister, Shirley Byrd of Mountain Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Nora Johnson, and his wife, Rose Johnson.

Family and friends are invited to honor Marlin’s life during visitation on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 1:00 pm until the funeral service at 2:00 pm at the Harmony Freewill Baptist Church. Reverend Keith Byrd and Reverend Shannon Byrd will officiate. Burial will follow at Galatia Cemetery in Norfork, Arkansas, with military honors provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and the United States Army Honor Guards.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House. Arrangements are entrusted to Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services in Mountain Home, Arkansas. An online obituary and guestbook are available at www.kirbyandfamily.com.
