Marilyn G. Wheat, 85, passed away on November 2, 2026 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Marilyn was born on August 5, 1941 in Hugo, Oklahoma, to Warren R. and Evelyn G. (Potter) Park. After graduating from Chandler, Oklahoma High School in 1959, she obtained her Associate's Degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Marilyn was a secretary for Amoco Production Company from 1962-1972 in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. She and George Wheat were married in the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Tulsa on July 1, 1972. Following George’s work, they lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Seoul, South Korea, and Houston, Texas, before retiring to Arkansas. In 1986 they moved to Mountain Home, where she became an active and vital volunteer for Hospice of the Ozarks and First Presbyterian Church. At Hospice, she served many years on the Board of Directors. Most recently she was the Moderator of Deacons at the church. Marilyn was active in the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was a member of the chapter ES in Houston, serving as president. In the Twin Lakes/Mountain Home area, she was the organizer of P.E.O. groups.
Marilyn’s family referred to her as the “glue” that held the far-flung family together with regular emails and phone calls, following in the footsteps of her mother and maternal grandmother. She also remained in close contact with her high school classmates, serving as email coordinator for her class.
Marilyn is survived by her sister, Margaret Park of Mountain Home, AR; and nephew, Justin Roger Park of Chandler, OK; niece, Sarah (Park) Sharpe of Delta, UT; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Jacob, Chloe, Noah, and Katelyn Sharpe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Warren Park; husband, George Wheat; and brother, Warren Roger and Alice Park.
