Leah Bowles

Leah Bowles, age 91, of Gassville, Arkansas (Formerly of Palestine, Ohio) passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026 at her residence. Leah was born in Toledo, Ohio to William and Kathryn Crawford she was the 2nd of 9 children. She had 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She graduated high school where she excelled in softball and basketball.

At 18 Leah married the love of her life Evert Bowles. They shared 50 years of love and memories until his passing in 2003. They had 5 Children, 3 boys and 2 girls. In order of age, Thomas Bowles, Debra Bowles Fenelon, Linda Bowles Baker, David Bowles, and Donny Bowles who preceded her in death. From her children, she was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

Leah, had a very active work life ranging from working in a airplane part factory, waitressing, health care, and at 87 years young her last job of preparing meals for Meals on Wheels She had a strong work ethic but her most important purpose was being the glue that held the Bowles family together. She raised and helped raise just about every generation of her family in addition to at least 5 foster children. Leah was sharp witted, sharp tongued, no nonsense but most of all no quitter. If she loved you - you knew you were loved.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Ohio. Local Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
