Larry B Olson

May 12, 1948 — February 1, 2023

Larry B. Olson passed from this life on February 1, 2023 at the age of 74. He was born to Raymond B. Olson and Geraldene Byers Olson in rural Pequot Lakes, Minnesota on May 12, 1948. He married the love of his life on January 14, 1967. To this union three children were born, Tamey Sue Olson, Timothy "Jake" Raymond Olson and David Lee Olson.

Larry worked with his dad on the farm and starting Nisswa Redi-Mix where he drove redi-mix truck even before he had a drivers license. Larry moved his family to West Plains, Missouri in January 1976 where he learned to lay brick to add to his talent for finishing concrete. You cannot drive through or around West Plains without seeing some of his work. He turned Olson Construction over to his son Jake in 1994 and started Olson Precast Concrete Products. He thought he was getting a 9 to 5 job, but it turned into more of a 5 am to 9 pm job because Larry never learned to give less than 110% to any job. He retired and sold the precast plant in 2004. But being Larry, he continued to help other concrete finishers when they called. Larry and Marion retired to Elizabeth, Arkansas, January 1, 2015 close to his favorite fishing area.

Larry had hobbies that he gave that same 110% to. Family camping and hours on the lake with his kids took up any weekend he wasn't working. For quiet time he loved to fish at night and caught several stripers over 40 pounds. He was more than happy to share his fishing techniques with anyone who asked.

Larry is survived by his wife Marion of 56 years; daughter, Tamey Sue (Kent) Meziere Clements of Aurora, Colorado; son, David Lee Olson of Jamestown, North Dakota; daughter in law, Lisa Olson; grandchildren, Jason (Kayan) Meziere, Katey (Devon) Templeton, Jacob Olson, Thomas Olson, Christopher Olson, Sydney Olson, Asher and Jackie Olson. His great joy is two great grandchildren Maya Rose Templeton and Jayden Meziere. He also leaves behind his sisters boys and daughter who learned some of their mischief from him. There are also beloved aunts and uncles, Don and Myrt Schmidt of Brainard, Minnesota and George and Joyce Skoles of Bruce, Wisconsin, and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly Olson Compton; son, Timothy "Jake"; grandson, Shawn Meziere.

Larry will be remembered by all who met him for his sense of humor-his stories and harmless pranks. His work ethic and willingness to help anyone in need. Larry never met a stranger.
