Joseph Valentine Volltrauer of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away on February 3, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on June 1, 1938, in Pardan, Yugoslavia, to Joseph and Margaret Beierle Volltrauer. At the age of 14, Joseph and his family emigrated to the United States, where they began a new chapter in their lives. Joseph’s journey led him to Chicago, where he met the love of his life, Erwine Ott, at a German Dance Hall known as Weber Halle. The couple married on October 31, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois. Joseph pursued an education in tool and die making at trade school, which paved the way for a successful career. He worked for JV Tool, crafting molds for companies in the Chicago area.
In 1975, Joseph and Erwine relocated to Mountain Home, Arkansas. He established Centennial Plastics and later founded Volt Plastics on June 1, 1992, as a birthday gift to himself. His dedication to his craft was recognized when he was inducted into the Fastener Hall of Fame in 2022 for his exceptional innovation in the field. Joseph took great pride in the success of his business, which remains vital in its 33rd year.
A devoted family man, Joseph enjoyed creating memories at his cabin with his grandchildren. His passions included collecting firearms and a love for power lifting and bodybuilding, where he shared his expertise and knowledge by coaching other lifters. Family was always his priority, and he was a proud provider.
Joseph is survived by his three daughters: Helga (Dana) Friedland, Brigitte Volltrauer-Shipman, and Heidi Volltrauer, all of Mountain Home, AR. He leaves behind five grandchildren-Erik Friedland, Joseph Shipman, Katharina Friedland, Jakob Shipman, and Annika Friedland-and three great-grandchildren: Elaina Friedland, Emmett Friedland, and Estelle Friedland. He is also survived by his brother, Hermann (Erika) Volltrauer of New Jersey, and two nephews, Joseph (Laura) Volltrauer and Phillip (Heather) Volltrauer. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Erwine Volltrauer, and his parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Life for Joseph will take place at 2:00 PM on the same day, with Reverend Dr. Randy Ludwig officiating. He will be entombed at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum in Mountain Home, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or Spectrum Connection of Arkansas. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.kirbyandfamily.com.
