John Reckard

John Reckard of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, in Mountain Home. He was born on March 2, 1942, in Minnesota to Charles and Mariam (Strickler) Reckard.

On September 16, 1967, John married Dorothy “Dot" Ackman, with whom he shared a devoted partnership of 58 years. He is survived by wife “Dot”; their sons, Darrin (Tammy) and Travis (Karen); four grandchildren: Christopher, Jessica (Mitchell), Breanna, Conner; and one great-grandchild; Maddox—all residing in Minnesota.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marjorie Poppenhagen, and his brother David.

He spent 31 years working as a computer programmer in Minnesota, before retiring at the age of 55. A passionate traveler, John drove through all 48 contiguous states and much of southern Canada, creating lasting memories along the way.

In 1998, John and Dot relocated to Mountain Home, where they became active volunteers in the community. John generously offered his time at the local library, assisting patrons with computer needs, while Dot volunteered at the hospital bringing smiles to all.

In keeping with John’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, his family will honor his life with a celebration, reflecting his joyful spirit and love of life.
