John Wayne Neighbors, age 77, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away on April 7, 2026, in Mountain Home.

John was born on July 2, 1948, in Heber Springs, Arkansas, the son of Loy and Goldie Eaker Neighbors. In high school, he met the love of his life, Marie "Reccie" Lawrence, and the two were married on September 25, 1966, in Heber Springs. Together they shared a devoted and loving marriage of 59 years and 4 months, building a life centered on family, faith, and friendship.

John spent many years as a truck driver, hauling cattle and embracing the hard work and independence of the open road. In 2000, he and Reccie made their home in Mountain Home, where he continued to live life to the fullest and form lasting friendships with all who knew him.

John had a deep passion for playing the banjo and sharing his music with others. Music was not what he did—it was who he was. Whether at home, with friends, or in the community, his music brought people together and reflected the joy he carried in his heart. He truly loved life and was known as a friend to all—kind-hearted, easygoing, and always ready with a story or a song.

Above all, John was a devoted family man. He was a wonderful dad and his children’s biggest fan, always offering encouragement, pride, and unconditional love. He cherished every moment spent with his family and took great joy in watching them grow. His love for his wife, Marie, was unwavering—she was truly loved and adored throughout their 59 years and 4 months together.

John is survived by his wife, Reccie Neighbors of Mountain Home, Arkansas; his sister, Leveda Kelley; his daughter, Cristy (Kevin Guffey) Neighbors; his son, Greg (Michelle) Neighbors; his grandchildren, Alexandria Duncan and Audi (Erin) Neighbors; and his great-grandchildren, Bex Neighbors and Luchesse Neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Tex Neighbors, Ellen Crawford, and Loy Neighbors, Jr.; and his daughter-in-law, Kathy Neighbors.
