Jim Finley McClure, 93, passed away on September 24, 2026 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born on February 24, 1933 in Mountain Home, Arkansas, to Ovin Basil and Virginia (Teverbaugh) McClure. He served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death on just April 4, 2026 by Ronald Switzer, his lifetime companion. They would travel from Dearborn, Michigan, to Mountain Home, Arkansas, to Natchez, Mississippi, and back for 55+ years, buying and selling antiques as their favorite hobby in retirement. Jim's father had a dry goods store on the town square in the early 1910's and later started McClure Funeral Homes. Jim continued the McClure Funeral Home in Mountain Home into the 1970's, and has honored his family's rich history by being a large supporter of Arkansas State University of Mountain Home (ASUMH). The Wade Street Gate and the convention center in the Vada Sheid Community Development Center are named after his family, and the Switzer Culinary Center is named after Ronald Switzer. He married Ron Switzer on November 4, 2022, in Natchez, Mississippi, after being together for nearly 50 years. Their love of Mountain Home and its people shall live on.
Amongst life-long friends, Jim is survived by nieces, Susie Atteberry Buratto, and Kathleen Atteberry; nephew Tom Atteberry of Ft. Worth, TX; nieces, Cheryl Gillespie (James) and Dixie Richards (Jim); and nephew, Clyde Evans Love of Shreveport, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, O.B. and Virgie McClure; and his husband, Ronald Switzer.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on November 4, 2026 at 11:00 am, at the Mountain Home Cemetery.
