Ferguson

Celebration of Life
Calvary Chapel Twin Lakes
Starts at 2:00 pm
James Robert “Bob” Ferguson, age 70, of Mountain Home, AR, formerly of Lompoc, CA, passed away on December 15, 2025.
Bob was born April 11, 1955 in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1960, The family moved to Lompoc California, where Bob attended local schools. Bob was a member of Boy Scouts, Village Hills Little League baseball, raced motocross in his teens, and was active in wrestling and Future Farmers of America in high school. He excelled at math and foreign language. Bob discovered his lifelong passion for auto repair while in high school and worked for local auto repair shops. Bob graduated from Cabrillo High School, class of 1974. Following graduation, Bob joined the U.S. Navy. During his years of service, he worked as an aircraft mechanical engineer. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for many years following his time in the service.
Bob and first wife Shirley (Pyle), met through best friend from the Navy, John Pyle. Bob and Shirley made their home in Southern California and had two children together, Tanya and James (Bobby). Bob made sure Tanya and James always knew how proud he was of them and how much they were loved.
Bob relocated to Mountain Home Arkansas in 1997. He worked for several years as a mechanic and later, for the local school district in maintenance until his retirement. Bob met and married Cindy, while living in Arkansas. They enjoyed time with their families.
Bob will be remembered for his entertaining stories of growing up in Lompoc, of his Navy years, good times shared with family and friends, and the many misadventures that became some of his funniest stories. He always had treats for the kids and grandkids. When Tanya and Bobby were young, Bob cleared an area for a Go-cart track in their very large back yard. Even their grandma Grisco did a couple laps in the go-cart with the grand kids. He enjoyed hunting and shooting. It gave him great joy to teach family and friends how to shoot and hunt. He made the best deer jerky around.
Bob was the ‘go to’ guy to help fix a car or anything else with bolts, screws or a motor.
He was always willing to help with anything from home repair to hanging their Christmas lights.
Bob was preceded in death by wife, Cindy Ferguson of Mountain Home, parents Joseph and Betty Grisco, Sister Janis (Ferguson) Cooper, all of Mountain Home Arkansas and formerly of Lompoc, California, and sister Mary (Tyke) Grisco of Lompoc California. He is survived by sister Melissa (Grisco) DeBacker, of Lompoc California, daughter Tanya Mercado (James) of Brewer ME, son James ‘Bobby’ Ferguson , of Houston TX, grandchildren Rachel, Noah, Samuel and Moses Mercado of Brewer ME, nephew Joseph Martin of TX, niece Pamela (Cruz) Farrar, of Parkersburg WV (Nick), John Pyle and family, and many nieces and nephews.
