Helen Gladys Kupczyk of Midway, Arkansas, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on May 2, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to Chester and Dorothy Margellis Zimny. On June 25, 1960, she married Raymond Kupczyk, Sr. in Crown Point, Indiana, and together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Gladys was known for her warm-hearted nature and dedicated service as a waitress, a role in which she excelled and touched the lives of many. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Barrington, Illinois, and held dear the friendships she cultivated over the years. In 1994, she moved from Illinois to Arkansas, where she continued to spread joy and kindness within her community.
Family was at the core of Gladys' life. She found great joy in playing Bingo, writing heartfelt letters to family and friends, and enjoying games, especially those inspired by the Wizard of Oz. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her family and adored her dogs.
Gladys is survived by her loving children: Katherine Mittelbrun, Dorothy Webber, Ellie Miller, Ray Kupczyk Jr., Phyllis Holt, Pat Kroyer, Kevin Kupczyk, Carolyn (Rick) Carter, and Chester (Courtney) Kupczyk. She also leaves behind 24 grandchildren and a multitude of great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. In addition, her sister, Patricia Jeschke, and close friends Sherry Eilrich and Bruce Kaminski mourn her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Daniel Kupczyk, and siblings Tony Zimny, Danny Zimny, Juanita Jackson, and April Moore.
A Memorial Service for Gladys will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel.
