Gerald William Thomas of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away on December 10, 2025, in Mountain Home at the age of 88. He was born September 27, 1937, in Middletown, Ohio, the son of Oscar R. and Cora E. (Oliver) Thomas.
He married Barbara Hall on July 27, 1962, in Sioux City, Iowa, after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Gerald was a pioneering programmer in the early computer industry, a career that led him to travel the world with his family. He lived in Mountain Home after moving from Las Vegas in 2019.
Gerald was a member, elder, and pastor of the Community of Christ Church. He was musically talented and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar and harmonica.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Barbara Thomas; son, Alan Thomas; daughters, Amy Thomas and Sarah Adams; grandchildren, Alison, Zoe, Kaleigh, Karl, Kevin, Ian, Leah, Olivia, Lily, Rowan, Oscar, Birch, Asher, Adin, and Adlai; and great-grandchildren, Jade, Orion, Rune, Skyler, Jasper, Oliver, Leroy, Alvin, Owen, and Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Curtis and Victor; and sisters, Irene, Kathleen, Wanda, Marilyn, and Judy; and grandson, Corey.
A Graveside Funeral Service for Gerald will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown, Ohio, with Elder Bill Helsinger officiating.
