Eddie D. Houpt, Sr. of Clarkridge, Arkansas, passed away September 8, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 77. He was born January 7, 1948, in Pasadena, Texas, the son of Wade and Juanita Richardson Houpt. On July 14, 1984, he married the love of his life, Sandy Cushing. Eddie began his career as a crane operator in Houston, Texas, and went on to dedicate nearly 20 years to Malcolm Drilling in Burbank, California. He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12. After retiring in 2006, Eddie and Sandy made their home in Clarkridge, Arkansas, where he became an active and valued member of the community. For over 17 years, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the Clarkridge Fire Department, always ready to lend a hand where it was needed. In his younger years, Eddie was a bull rider who earned many buckles. He also loved the outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing. Since living in the Twin Lakes area, he especially loved spending time on Lake Norfork and the White River.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sandra Houpt of Clarkridge, AR; son, Eddie D. Houpt, Jr. of Willis, TX; daughters, Michelle (Frank) DiPinto of Phoenix, AZ, and Tania Houpt of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Danon Houpt, Cory Houpt, Tiffany Houpt, Blake DiPinto, Justin DiPinto, Madison DiPinto, Damien Scott, and Emily Scott; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Houpt; and sister, Emily Winkler.
A Celebration of Life for Eddie will be Saturday, September 13, 2025, 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, at Clarkridge Volunteer Fire Department, 12101 Highway 201 North, Clarkridge, AR, 72623, with Pastor Eldon Cooper officiating.
