He married Leyla Handall on February 17, 2001, at Rolling Meadows, Illinois and worked as a carpenter. Douglas was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Douglas lived in Gamaliel since June of 2013, moving from Barrington.
Douglas is survived locally by his wife, Leyla Jones of Gamaliel.
