Donald Lee Forbes, aged 88, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on October 28,2024. He was born on June 11, 1936, in Seymour, Missouri, to Robert and Garnett Dudley Forbes. Donald proudly served in the United States Army and married his beloved wife, Ida Stanley, on August 31, 1958, in Seymour, Missouri. In 1963, they moved to Arkansas from Kansas City, where he became a member of the Twin Lakes Baptist Church. His passion for music was evident in his love for singing and playing the guitar. Donald was also honored to be the last surviving member of the Ozark Quartet.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Ida Flo Forbes of Mountain Home, AR; daughter, LaDonna (Robert) Johnston of Gamaliel, AR; granddaughter, Mya Nester; brother, Dale Forbes of Fordland, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Earl and Garnett Cardwell; two brothers, Bill Forbes and Bob Forbes; and sister, Virginia Cornielson.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held in his memory at Galatia Cemetery on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with Timothy Jackson officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and the United States Army Honor Guards. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time.
