Cathlene A. Harney, 87, of Gassville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026. She was born on September 5, 1938, in Waverly, Illinois, the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Etherton Harney.

She is survived by her three children, Bradley (Val) Mahan of Fort Walton Beach, FL; Rene (George) Marshall of Laguna Hills, CA; and Angie (K.C.) Hilton of Gassville, AR; her four grandchildren, Colt, Ryan, Grant, and Maddie; and her sister, Sandra (Norman) Bettis of Bloomington, IL; as well as several nieces and one nephew.

Cathlene was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Charlene (Jerry) Wilkin; sister Helen (Glen) Sims; and her three brothers, Raymond Harney, Gary Harney, and Charles Harney, Jr.

Cathlene was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy was her family. She cherished her three children and four grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to be part of their lives. Her family was her greatest blessing.

Cathlene found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved flowers and plants and took great pleasure tending to their beauty. She enjoyed sunshine and the warmth of a beautiful day, could easily spend hours immersed in a good book, and loved taking pictures of the people, places, and moments that were special to her. These treasured memories affectionately earned her the name “Kodak Queen.”

Those who knew Cathlene will remember her devotion to family, appreciation for the beauty around her, and ability to find happiness in everyday moments. She will be deeply missed, but the memories of her 87 years will continue to bring smiles and comfort to those who loved her, warming hearts for years to come.

Burial will be in the Waverly East Cemetery, in Waverly, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Waverly.
