Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian L. Watt, who left us peacefully on August 1, 2025, at the age of 66, after a courageous 17-year battle with End Stage Renal Disease.

Born in Dubuque, Iowa and raised in several small towns throughout Iowa, Brian was an athlete through and through. Though football wasn’t quite his fit, he found his stride in baseball, basketball, track, and golf-excelling in each. As an adult, he continued his love of sports through men’s softball and golf, where he was known to regularly win skins from his golfing buddies. A memorable golf trip to Las Vegas sparked another lifelong passion: gambling-always returning with a few colorful stories that were as entertaining as they were unbelievable.

Brian proudly served his country during Desert Storm as a Tacfire Operations Specialist in the United States Army, a chapter of his life he held with deep pride.

Above all, Brian deeply cherished his friends, whom he regarded as extended family. Their unwavering support meant the world to him, and he gave back in every way he could-whether it was smoking brisket or making deep-dish Chicago-style pizza for fellow residents at Baxter Retirement Village, or grilling steaks and burgers for the dedicated staff at the renal center. His generosity, warmth, and humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Known affectionately as "Brian with the rose-colored glasses," he faced life with optimism, wit, and an open heart. He will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, kindness, and enduring love for the people in his life.

Brian is survived by his beloved sister Brenda and her husband CW, of Flippin, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Norma Watt.
