Listen to Obituary

Brian “Bud” John Hoeksema, 68, of Lakeview, Arkansas, passed away on December 23, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Brian was born on February 14, 1957, in Harvey, Illinois, to John and Joan (Yatsak) Hoeksema. He married the love of his life, Yvonne DeSousa, on September 10, 1983, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas, beginning a partnership that spanned more than four decades.

Professionally, Brian built a successful career as a Project Manager in website development, where he developed a strong interest in emerging technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence. He worked as a Project Manager for RR Donnely, Mitsubishi, and Blackhawk, bringing dedication, curiosity, and thoughtful leadership to his work.

Brian moved to Lakeview from Pleasanton, California where he quickly made the area his home. He enjoyed golfing and bowling in local leagues, working in the yard, and spending time on his tractor-always finding satisfaction in a job well done.

Brian liked to say he lived his life slightly “in between”-whether it was his golf score, his bowling average, the size of his tractor, or even his pant size. Fittingly, he even lived in between Lakeview and Midway, Arkansas. His sense of humor, easygoing nature, and quiet wit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Brian is survived by his wife, Yvonne Hoeksema of Lakeview, Arkansas; his three children, Erin (Shawn) McCloskey of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, Alyse Giffin of South Point, Ohio, and Jon (Jennifer) Hoeksema of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; He was "OPA" to his three grandchildren, Remy Giffin, Noah McCloskey, and Michael Hoeksema. He is also survived by his sister, Cindy (David) Veazey; brother-in-law, Stuart (Donna) DeSousa and a number of nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
