Born on January 17, 1935, in Morrilton, Arkansas, Bettye devoted her life to her family and community. She married Joseph Middleton on March 3, 1952, in San Diego, California, and later made Mountain Home her home starting in 1999 after moving from California.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joseph Owen Middleton.
