Anna McCollum of Mountain Home, Arkansas, peacefully passed away on May 8, 2025, at the remarkable age of 96. Born on December 11, 1928, in Bayard, Iowa, she was the daughter of Ira and Charlotte Huss Palmer. Anna’s journey through life was beautifully intertwined with love, beginning when she married her dear husband, Francis McCollum, on December 27, 1948, in Jefferson, Iowa. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter. Anna dedicated many years to her work in quality control for Union Carbide Company, showcasing her strong work ethic and commitment. In 1984, Anna made the decision to move to Mountain Home, Arkansas. Her vibrant spirit shone through in her love for bowling, as she enthusiastically participated in several leagues until her health began to decline.
Anna's legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her daughter, G. Jean Dewey, of Mountain Home, AR; her son, Ken (Rhonda) McCollum, of Sunfield, MI; and a wonderful legacy of seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ira and Charlotte Palmer; her husband, Francis; her two brothers and eight sisters.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, led by Pastor Kyle Tardiff. Following the service, Anna will be laid to rest beside her husband in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, honoring Anna’s compassionate spirit. The arrangements are entrusted to Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
