Funeral services for Steven Daniel "Steve" Heenan will be 10:00 am, Friday, June 24, 2022 at the College and North Street Church of Christ with Brother Ken Burton officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Kirby and Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Luther Sutter, Lyndle Crownover, Scott Hough, Jerome Heenan, Mickey Shissler, and Jimmy Blagg as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Vernon Dewey, Jim Estes, Richard Kemp, Dr. George Lawrence, Wayne Tolliver, Michael Lance, and the staff at Hospice of the Ozarks.
Steve, age 63, passed away at home under hospice care on June 21, 2022, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born on July 1, 1958, in Forest City, Arkansas, the son of James Frank Heenan and Mary Anne Beach Heenan. Steve spent his childhood in Wichita, Kansas, and moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas, in 1973 where he attended and graduated from Cotter High School in 1977. After graduation, he went to Arkansas State University - Beebe for a year and then on to work in the oilfields in Oklahoma for several years before returning to the Mountain Home area where he discovered his natural born talent as a salesperson. Steve never met a stranger, and he could close a deal like no other. He made many life-long friends as a result of his endeavors, including selling insurance, cars and fireworks and developing a subdivision.
He had a variety of hobbies from seeking out the biggest and fastest roller coasters to riding motorcycles, racing cars, hunting, fishing and golfing. He always had a hunting dog to bring along on his pheasant trips, and he spent hours training his dogs to be ready for the hunt. He also really enjoyed the time he spent fishing on the river with his friend, Wayne.
He loved spending time with his family, his friends and his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed the time he spent helping the kids show cattle. He was known as Poppaw. He was fun-loving and made everyone laugh with his jokes. He had an obsession with tractors, ponds and meticulously mowing his property.
He had a heart of gold and would help anyone. He had a great love for the Lord was a member of the College & North Street Church of Christ in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Heenan, to whom he was married 37 years; his children, Steven Heenan, Chelsea Kaye (Ryan Kaye, husband), and Daniel Heenan; his grandchildren, Audrian Litty, Bryce Litty, Zoey Kaye, Ethan Kaye, and Owen Pendergrass; sister, Franki Coulter (Chris Coulter, husband); and mother, Mary Anne Beach Heenan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Heenan.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks, 811 Burnett Drive, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653.
