Roy Gentry

On Tuesday, April 28, 2020, Roy Dale Gentry of Mountain Home, AR, passed away at the age of 76. He was born on March 13, 1944 in Yalobusha County, MS, to James A. Gentry and Ella Frances (Goad) Gentry. Over the course of his life he worked as a mechanic and a roofer and was very dedicated to his work. He spent many years traveling the country as a roofing subcontractor. He loved rock and roll music, Nascar racing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a great story and joke teller and was known to be an excellent cook.

He is survived by his mother, Frances Gentry of Greenwood, MS; the mother of his children, Betty (Holly) Gentry of Lakeview, AR; three children, Dale (Kerry) Gentry of Omaha, NE, Jimmy (Kristi) Gentry of Mountain Home, AR, and April (Jim) Clawson of Little Rock, AR; seven grandchildren, Meagan, Samantha, Austin, Patrick, Tyler, Katelyn and Matthew; one great-grandchild, Conner; seven siblings, Bill Gentry of Coila, MS, Raymond Gentry of Greenwood, MS, Hank Gentry of Minot, ND, Wanda Robertson of Greenwood, MS, Wesley Gentry of Greenwood, MS, Altheia Hutchings of Paragould, AR, and Greg Gentry of Highlandville, MO; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father James Gentry and five siblings, Emma Palmertree, Joyce Baker, Lewis Gentry, Vicky Gentry, and Scotty Gentry.

Pallbearers will be his nephews Ken Talbert, Michael Palmertree, William Hutchings, Kevin Wilson, Andy Gentry, and Joe Gentry. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 2 at 2 PM in Bethel Cemetery, 910 Bethel Rd, Enid, MS.

Local arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services - Mountain Home, Arkansas.
