Graveside Services for Martha Parker Wise of Mountain Home, Arkansas, formerly of West Memphis, AR will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Crittenden Memorial Park, Marion, AR, with Heather Marsalis, Celebrant, officiating.
Martha entered eternal rest on Friday, November 9, 2018, in Mountain Home, AR, at the age of 98. Awaiting her were many family members, loved ones and her special granddaughter, Lisa. She was born August 9, 1920, in Tennessee, the daughter of Zachary and Edith Hickey Coleman. She and Leo Parker were married in Biscoe, AR in 1942. They lived in Stuttgart, AR until 1954, when they moved to West Memphis, AR where she and Leo managed Speed Car Wash in Memphis, TN. She was also a cafeteria cook in the West Memphis School District. After Leo's death in 1974 she married Tom Wise in 1978, in West Memphis. She later moved to Mountain Home, AR to be closer to her daughters. Her biggest joy in life was her family, including spending many hours, days and weeks with her grandchildren. They looked forward to her culinary skill of fried squirrel, macaroni and cheese and dumplings and rabbit. Her yard was her pride and joy and the envy of the neighborhood. Roses flourished in her collection of bushes, carefully tended by her hands.
Martha is survived by her daughters, Shirley Kirby of Mountain Home, AR and Martha "Sue" Reynolds of Mountain Home, AR, grandchildren; Cindy (Brian) Mitchell, of Memphis, TN, Terri (John) Horner, of Bartlett, TN, and Jason (Jessica) Kirby of Mountain Home, AR, six great-granddaughters; Shelby, Sierra, Jessie, Olivia, Abby and Mica, and her great-grandson, Jacob.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband, Leo Parker, 2nd husband, Tom Wise, six brothers, one sister and a granddaughter.
Burial will be in the Crittenden Memorial Park, Marion, AR.
