Karen Babcock

Karen Darlene Babcock of Gassville, Arkansas, passed away September 13, 2018, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 61. She was born April 7, 1957, in Passaic, New Jersey, the daughter of Charles Phelps and Genevieve Kurtz. She was a loving mother of her daughter, Jessica. She married James Babcock on December 15, 1996, in Port Neches, Texas, and worked in human resources for Texaco Chemical. Karen lived in Gassville since moving from Port Neches, Texas, in 1998. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mountain Home, past president of the Baxter Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, past president of the Cameo Club of Mountain Home, Red Hat Society, Saturday Club of Cotter, Twin Lakes Literacy Council, and was the State Treasurer of the Arkansas General Federation of Women's Clubs. She enjoyed going to her book club, scrap-booking, traveling, gardening, and cooking. She loved her dogs.

Karen is survived by her husband, James Babcock of Gassville, AR; daughter, Jessica (Jacob) Rodriguez of Edmond, OK; step-daughter, Dominique Gonzalez of Frisco, TX; two sisters, Diana Phelps of Conifer, CO, and Darlene Palmer of Loveland, CO; four grandchildren, Sammy Rodriguez, Freddie Rodriguez, Jack Rodriguez all of Edmond, OK, and Michael Gonzalez of Frisco, TX; three nieces, Sahvanna Phelps of Jacksonville, AR, Keriann Miller of Centennial, CO, and Terra Haight of Greeley, CO; and two nephews, Joshua Whitton of Denver, CO, and Jesse Ray Whitton of Fort Collins, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandmother, Jessie Kurtz.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks.

A Celebration of Life for Karen will be held at a later date.
