John Herlien of Gassville, Arkansas, passed away November 27, 2021, in Gassville, Arkansas at the age of 74. He was born February 20, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Siebert and Harriet Haveman Herlien. John was a U.S. Army veteran. He married Sherli Jasker on April 27, 1985, in Naperville, Illinois. John lived in Arkansas since moving from Merrill, Wisconsin, in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, DIY projects, watching movies, cooking, and gardening.
John is survived by his wife, Sherli Herlien of Gassville, AR; two sons, Richard Pender of Gassville, AR, and David (Alec Watson) Pender of Eau Claire, WI; daughter, Sarah (David) Thompson of Viola, AR; two grandchildren, David (Amy) Pender and Matthew Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Elliot Pender; two sisters; one brother; and his beloved dog, "Cocoabutt."
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks.
