Betty Varnell died Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Mountain Home at the age of 70. She was born Thursday, April 28, 1938 in Hocomo, Missouri, the daughter of Delbert and Lela Briggs Hunt. She married Martin Varnell on December 22, 1989 at Mountain Home, Arkansas and had lived in this area most of her life. She worked with the Ozark Community Home and Hospice Home Health Care, working with disabled individuals. She was a beautician for many years. She was a great homemaker, baker and loved her friends and big family gatherings. Survivors: Betty Varnell is survived by her husband, Martin Varnell, 2 sons, Steve (Teresa) Evans of Isabella, MO and Mark (Dedra) Evans of Flippin, AR, step-son, Mark Varnell of Little Rock, AR, 2 daughters, Tina (Rick) Evans-King of Jolpin, Mo and Terry Word of Joplin, Mo, brother, Jim (Peg) Hunt of Kansas City, MO, sister, Pam (Dave) Parker of Kansas City, MO, 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 grandchild. Visitation: Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M., Monday, December 8 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Funeral: Funeral services for Betty Jo Varnell of Mountain Home, AR, will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Halbert Smith officiating. Burial: Amy Union Cemetery, Hocomo, Missouri Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ozark Community Home.
