Alvin Johnson

February 24, 1941 — May 10, 2012

After a long and arduous battle with cancer, Alvin Lee Johnson passed away May 10, 2012. His parents, Alvin and Ella Johnson, a sister, and a niece preceded him in death. Al was born in Seattle, Washington, on February 24, 1941, but grew up and attended school in Deer Lodge and Hamilton, Montana. After high school, Al joined the navy, where he was an air traffic controller for 30 years. Upon retirement from the navy, he worked for the FAA as a flight service manager for 20 years. Al and his wife, Corrine, moved to Mountain Home from Minnesota in 2004. Al enjoyed golfing with his many Big Creek golfing buddies. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, including many days spent on Lake Mille Lacs with Corrine, her brothers, and other family and friends. Surviving Al are his wife Corrine, his daughter Gina (Mike) Green of Beckley, West Virginia, his son Les Lee of Owatonna, Minnesota, his stepdaughter Rachel Alexander of Vermillion, South Dakota and three grandsons, a great grandson and a great granddaughter. He also leaves three sisters, Diane (Jerry) Wilkerson of Helena, Montana, Karla (Richard) Rydeen of Deerlodge, Montana, and Shawn Brownlee of Colorado Springs, Colorado, along with many nieces and nephews. Al was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home, where the memorial service will be held Monday, May 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. The committal service will be held at a later date in Deer Lodge, Montana. Al loved his family and his country. He will surely be missed by many. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
