Biography

Jo Ann Riley, 73 of Mountain Home, AR passed away on February 6, 2010 at the Hospice House in Mountain Home, AR. Jo Ann was born on November 22, 1936 to Lester and Caroline Riley in Mason City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Warren Riley and Caroline Balek Riley, her brother Warren Riley and her many pets over the years.

She is survived by sister-in-law, Lena Hulse Riley of Murrieta, CA, 1 niece, Kathy Riley Ferris and husband Ken of Gold Hill, OR, 1 nephew, Robert Riley and wife Debbie of Murrieta, CA, 4 great nephews, 1 great niece and her "Kids", Red, Darf and Tabi, as well as cousins and as many friends from coast to coast.

Jo Ann graduated from John C. Fremont High School in Los Angeles, CA and was employed from 1956 - 1992 as an Administrative Assistant at Rockwell International, now Boeing, in Anaheim, CA. She served in Afghanistan with the Peace Corp in 1970 and was an Anesthetist and Manager at the Equine Hospital in Chino, CA from 1971 - 1973.

In 1992 Jo Ann retired from Rockwell International and traveled across the country with her horses and dogs to the Ozarks to make Mountain Home, AR her home until her death.

Jo Ann was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and very active in her community by serving as a volunteer in Mountain Home, AR at the Humane Society, Christmas Wish, Christian Clinic and the Buford Volunteer Fire Department.

Jo Ann's hobbies were her horses, both real ones and collectibles, wood working, raking leaves and picking up rocks!

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church under the direction of Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services. Visit an online obituary and guestbook at www.kirbyandfamily.com.

There will also be a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason City, Iowa under the direction of Hogan-Bremer-Moore Funeral Home with burial at the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa where she will be laid to rest with her parents.

Jo Ann requested that any memorials be made to the Humane Society of choice.
