Hoxie - Katie Sue Anderson, age 86, of Hoxie, died Wednesday, May 27 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. She was born on August 15, 1928 to Frank and Ruby Harvey Austin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hoxie Methodist Church. On June 9, 1947, she married Warren Anderson.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Warren; her son, Swan; one sister, Virginia Martin; and six brothers, Jewel "Peck", Kenneth "Newt", Donald "Pookie", Maxie, Jackie, and Bill Austin.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Downing (Terrell) of Hoxie and Terri Anderson of Mountain Home; sister Pat Buercklin of Greers Ferry; four grandchildren, Marc Anderson of Sherwood, AR, Kyle Downing of Springdale, Amy West of Powhatan, and Kellie Garing of Madesta, CA.; four great-grandchildren, Matthew and Luke Downing of Springdale, and Jack and Kate Garing of Madesta, CA.; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 30, from 6-8 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 31, at 2 pm at Hoxie Methodist Church in Hoxie with Garry Wiles officiating. Services will be under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Local arrangements were by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
