Gordon Lee Benscoter

A Celebration of Life for Gordon Lee Benscoter of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at First Assembly of God Church, with Reverend Micah Wells officiating.

Gordon passed away August 16, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 85. He was born July 23, 1931, in Glenwood, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Fern Kates Benscoter. He married Janet McManigal on March 28, 1954 in Glenwood, Iowa and worked as a manager in the automotive industry. Gordon was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He lived in Mountain Home for 15 years, moving from Montana. Gordon and Janet moved to the area to be closer to his successful booth at Silver Dollar City where he was known as The Puzzle Man. During the Fall and Gospel Festivals he made scroll saw art among other things. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Janet Benscoter of Mountain Home, AR; two daughters, Sharon (Scott) Connell of Fairview, OR and Julie (Bruce) Hayes of Kimberling City, MO; son, Michael Benscoter; four grandchildren, Jacki Ramkissoon of Fort Mill, SC, Lauren Horgan of Seal Beach, CA, Nolan (Molly) Bernard of Southern, CA and Nicole Bernard of Springfield, MO and three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Abbie and Noah Ramkissoon of Fort Mills, SC.

Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God Church.
