A Funeral Service for DeLoris Isabel White of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be held at 11:00 am, August 23, 2014, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Pastor John Easterling officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m.

On August 17, 2014, DeLoris passed peacefully at her home with her loving husband at her side. She was 91. She was born June 27, 1923, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Louis and Norma Colby Ziegler. She excelled in school and graduated valedictorian. She met a soldier, Lee Ross White of Vici, Oklahoma, and fell in love. They were married on Valentines Day in 1943 in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. In a few short days he left for the war. She waited 3 years and saved all of his love letters.

Upon his return it wasn't long before they built their home in the country in Seminary Springs, Wisconsin. They raised three children and DeLoris became an excellent homemaker. She began a “Mother’s Club,” worked at the elementary school, was active as a 4-H leader and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Madison. She made holidays and birthdays special and as the years passed, she always remembered birthdays and sent cards and a gift. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidering wedding gifts. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She always raised a large garden and preserved fruits and vegetables for her family. She would plan summer vacations that often included trips to visit family and all of the national parks along the route.

In 1965 the family was relocated to Sacramento, California, where she and her husband helped to charter Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. As the children were grown, she began to do accounting for the Weight Watchers Company. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to many places, including Micronesia, Alaska and Hawaii to visit children and grandchildren.

In 1987 she and her husband retired to their beloved “Mountain Home” (“the friendliest place on earth”). She enjoyed fishing and attending B.P.O.E. and VFW with her husband. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and enjoyed participating in the “Kitchen Band,” where the group would sing for elders in care homes. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was loved by all, including her neighbors.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy White; and her five brothers: Lyle, Norman, Kenneth, Robert and Richard.

DeLoris is survived by her husband of 71 years, Lee White of Mountain Home, AR; two daughters, Rhonda (Dr. Mike) Chaffin of Kaneohe, HI and Ramona Schriber of Fairbanks, AK.

She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren: Amy (Tim) Kassouni of Sacramento, CA; Anne (Charles) Farnsworth of Tacoma, WA; Benjamin Chaffin of Bogata, Colombia; Daniel Chaffin of Los Angeles, CA; Elizabeth Chaffin of Pearl City, HI; Lisa Chaffin of Honolulu, HI; Matthew Chaffin of Los Angeles, CA; Joshua Chaffin of Kaneohe, HI; JeanMarie (Taylor) Fink of Kaneohe, HI, KateLynn Chaffin of Santa Monica, CA; James Chaffin of Kaneohe, HI; (Ezekiel Hillier) of Kaneohe, HI; Christopher (Mary Claire) White of Eads, TN; Colby (Sheri) White of Pell City, AL; Sarah (Jacob) Berger of Memphis, TN, and Ryan White of Gore Springs, MS.
